Why Ride?

  • more than 25% of all greenhouse gas emissions come from the transportation sector.
  • In 2005, Statistics Canada reported that roughly 86 percent of Canadians use a car to get to work. That fact comes with significant repercussions not just for the environment, but for the healthcare sector as well.
  • By integrating active transportation into everyday activities, like walking to the bus stop and biking to work, Canadians can reach the 30 minutes of daily exercise recommended by the Public Health Agency of Canada, decrease stress, make our streets safer and create a healthier environment overall.

 

 

 

About Bike Works

 

 
  • Bike Works is a community bike space
  • funding assistance from the Ontario Ministry of Health Promotion and Environment Canada's 'Go Green' grant
  • the space offers the educational tools and resources to learn about bike maintenance, hiking trails
